The Warrior Games, an annual adaptive sports competition for the military community, will return to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in August 2027.
The event celebrates the strength, resilience, and healing journeys of wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans. This marks the third time the Warrior Games will be hosted at The Most Magical Place On Earth following the 2022 and 2024 games.
What Are The Warrior Games?
The Warrior Games is an annual, national military adaptive sports competition that started in 2010 and provides wounded, ill, and injured service members an opportunity to showcase their strength and resilience. Beyond athletic achievement, the Games foster support for recovery journeys and shine a spotlight on the extraordinary determination of military service members.
Nearly 200 competitors will participate in 12 adaptive sports during the 2027 Warriors Games at Walt Disney World. Events include archery, cycling, field events, indoor rowing, pickleball, powerlifting, precision air, sitting volleyball, swimming, track, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair rugby. Through the five teams of competitors, all military services are represented: The Army, Marine Corps, Navy/Coast Guard, Air Force/Space Force, and Special Operations Command.
To commemorate the Warrior Games returning to Walt Disney World, representatives from the Warrior Games and Disney leadership, community members, and sponsors as well as former competitors provided details, insights, and updated information during a press event and pickleball demonstration at the sports complex.
Warrior Games competititor U.S. Army veteran Tony Smith was honored at a special Flag Retreat ceremony in Magic Kingdom on August 6 to recognize his service and sacrifice. He received heartfelt applause from those gathered around Town Square on a rainy day in Magic Kingdom.

Admiration for the U.S. military service members, veterans and their families has been part of The Walt Disney Company’s story for more than a century, beginning with founders Walt and Roy O. Disney, who both served their country during World War I. Today, Disney continues that legacy by honoring their service through meaningful experiences and celebrations.
