August 12, 2026: Redd from Pirates of the Caribbean

Drink up me hearties, yo ho! Redd, the fearless and fiery captain from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, is ready to sail into your shopping cart as the newest limited-edition Disney doll. Collectors can cast off on a high-seas adventure with Redd, who boasts impressive packaging, intricate design elements, and incredible tie-ins to the beloved dark ride.

There are only 3000 being sold worldwide, with the doll first available for purchase August 14-16 at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa, and starting August 17 at 8 a.m. PST on DisneyStore.com.

Who is Redd in Pirates of the Caribbean?

This is now the second doll we are highlighting here on Disney Parks Blog that is directly inspired by a Disney Parks-specific character, and it is very clear fans love these niche icons and are excited to see them being given the doll treatment. “I’m a big fan of the unusual characters myself,” gushed designer J. Fuchs, “so I really try to capture the feeling the original piece of artwork or animatronic evokes.”

The Redd animatronic debuted when the Pirates of the Caribbean auction scene was refreshed in 2018, and the confident, charismatic pirate captain can now be seen in the attraction at both Disneyland park and Magic Kingdom park in Walt Disney World. When we sail past her, she’s busy selling off the townspeople’s stolen rum and other treasures after the pirates have overrun the village, bringing her sharp wit and striking fashion sense to one of the most memorable scenes.

“Our doll is based on the updated version, so we have her posed out as she is in the ride, commanding the auction,” J explained. Packaging continues to play a special role in storytelling, and the team focused on details like the dimensional box for Redd to prop her foot on (just like the Audio-Animatronics figure stands), the auction banner, and even the iconic chicken in the background.

Designing the Redd Doll

I was eager to hear J’s thoughts about how the design process is approached differently when modeling dolls after animatronics in Disney Parks rather than animated characters onscreen. “We might be able to pop over to WDI or the park and see the outfits in person, match swatches, check out all the little details, and often talk to the people working on them,” J explained. “It’s hard to beat that for reference!”

I was surprised to hear that reimagining animated figures in doll form has its own set of challenges for the design team. J shared, “Working on the animated characters is tougher because you can’t always see what the details are, so we have to fill in the gaps in our information with historical reference and what works to give the closest effect to the movie.” In the case of Redd, not only do they have the animatronic for inspiration, but also the roaming character at Disneyland park, so they were able to blend elements from both lively ladies.

Like other limited edition Disney dolls, Redd is brought to life in a richly detailed and thoughtful manner, and the accessories on this femme fatale are fantastic. Her layered pirate costume is made up of a satin bodice, embroidered elements, ruffled trim, puffed sleeves, studded skirt, flowing petticoat, and molded boots – just to name a few standout features. J revealed that an Easter egg is hidden in the embroidery, with some fun iconography from the attraction like the swords and skulls being subtly included.

Her belt has accents like golden buckles and chains, with a duo of shiny pearled pistols tucked in at the waist alongside a gold key. The look is topped off with two necklaces, a choker, and of course a faux suede pirate hat with dramatic feathered flair. Even her flaming red hair is neatly styled with beads tucked into her braids.

The mix and contrast of materials here is so captivating, ranging from grittier leather and metals to softer satin and velvet. J shared how much they personally enjoy working with these unusual, unexpected fabrics, especially when paired with so many teeny tiny accessories.

As you’re mapping out your adventure and exploring the show floor, be sure to shop for the Redd Limited Edition Doll (in addition to a lineup of other new dolls) this weekend at D23 2026, and don’t miss her DisneyStore.com debut on August 17 at 8 a.m. PST.

June 30, 2026: Werecat Lady from The Haunted Mansion

Am I sensing some sympathetic vibrations from the happy haunts of The Haunted Mansion, or is it just a new limited-edition doll coming soon for the Halloween season?

We know that Disney Parks fans love everything about The Haunted Mansion – the lore, the cast member costumes, the different versions of the attraction around the globe – and I can already sense (no consultation with Madame Leota needed) that this doll is going to be a big hit.

Haunted Mansion History

The changing portrait corridor of The Haunted Mansion at both Disneyland park and Magic Kingdom park is an eerie space you’ll encounter on your tour of the mysterious mansion. At Disneyland, you’re greeted by the dimly lit hallway lined with pictures after exiting the Stretching Room, while at the Magic Kingdom it is one of the rooms you float through on your doom buggy.

But there’s more than meets the eye with this assortment of artwork: when lightning flashes, a ghostly image is cast onto the paintings, creating an alluring illusion. One of these shifting specters is the striking Werecat Lady, who is now being brought to life in doll form by our extremely talented product design team.

Created by Imagineer Marc Davis, the first iteration of the Werecat Lady painting at Disneyland park showed a beautiful woman wearing all white and holding a red rose while lounging on a light pink chaise, but who, in the blink of an eye, transformed into an ominous black panther.

Some elements of the original portrait, like the young woman’s position on the piece of furniture and the flower in her hand, were preserved, but the 2005 modification resulted in her clothing becoming black, the chaise turning an orangey red, and her alter ego instead morphing into an elegant white tigress. This is the version of the portrait that exists today at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, and it’s a stunning sight that always catches my eye.

Unboxing the Werecat Lady Doll

The Werecat Lady doll is a bit of a fashion icon, with a long, silky black dress that is adorned with delicate lace accents and a thick choker. Her ensemble is completed by a haunting headpiece, dazzling jewel necklace, dark eye makeup, and a swipe of rich red lipstick – Halloween costume inspiration, anyone?

Possibly the most unique element of this doll is the packaging, which plays an important role in setting the scene and telling the Werecat Lady’s story. The double-sided box is designed to look like the framed photos you’d see inside the Haunted Mansion, capturing the element of supernatural surprise when they quickly turn into a sinister sight as the result of a UV reactive glow effect.

One side showcases the bewitching beauty balanced on the ornate, plush chaise, while the other features her in her more frightening form – the white tigress. The box is bordered with gold detailing and has a metal descriptor placard along the bottom to look just like a vintage picture frame, one that will appear familiar to any frequent visitors of The Haunted Mansion. It can even be mounted on your wall for the full effect.

You may notice the Werecat Lady’s pose in the box exactly mimics that of the portrait – an additional storytelling detail fans will appreciate. This is actually the first doll our teams have created that reclines, with a newly sculpted torso that allows for extra movement, so you can display he r just as she appears in the iconic scene. She comes with a stand as well if your preference is to position her upright, adding another level of dynamic, thoughtful, and innovative design for collectors to appreciate.

The limited-edition Werecat Lady doll will be available for purchase on DisneyStore.com July 6 at 8 a.m. PST and is coming soon to both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, so you can show off your Halloween spirit and love for one of the Haunted Mansion’s most stylish souls.

Halloween is going to be a grim grinning good time here on Disney Parks Blog, and we will have even more news and reveals to share as the season creeps closer, so stay tuned.

April 30, 2026: Padmé Amidala

If it seems excitement is suddenly building across the stars, it may be because the release of a brand-new limited-edition doll is on the horizon, this time spotlighting Padmé Amidala.

May the 4th festivities are in full swing here on Disney Parks Blog with out-of-this-galaxy merchandise, novelties, park experiences, and more for all to enjoy. We are excited to share an inside look at the making of this doll ahead of its release in a few days, just in time to join the Star Wars fun.

Based on the iconic scene by the lake on Naboo in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, this doll perfectly captures Padmé’s elegance and style. Even as a more casual Star Wars viewer, this memorable moment is one that has always stuck with me due to the striking visuals and dreamy aesthetic.

Fun Fact:
  • The embroidery artwork on the cape is inspired by the architecture and style of the written language of Naboo.

The flowing fabric, soft ombre coloring, and delicate sparkling accents are beloved elements of Padmé’s lakeside look, and they’ve been showcased in a way that feels both contemporary and classic.

You may not think about the level of hard work that goes into making a doll-sized dress, but Design Manager J shared that it was actually quite challenging to craft due to the scale. “Finding a fabric that drapes well at this small size is especially difficult, due to the size of the weave or knit versus the small amount used,” J explained. “On a person, chiffon drapes easily, but on a doll the same material will appear stiffer and gathering on the outfit will be very large.”

The Padmé doll was a true test of the team’s creative thinking and vision, as they worked to recreate such an iconic and recognizable ensemble.

Fun Fact:
  • It takes approximately one year to go from concept through approvals, development, and production to deliver a doll like this.

As we’ve discovered through conversations with J before, it’s all about the details on these incredible dolls. So much thought and time is put into even the smallest of elements, which is what makes the product so special to dedicated fans and diehard collectors.

The necklace, arm cuffs, and back of dress charm are made of metal but have an enamel fill with an iridescent sheen that is inspired by mother of pearl, giving them an organic appearance. And finishing touches include the Padmé doll’s intricate hairdo and glamorous makeup, again showing how impressive it is for the team to scale down those details that were captured onscreen.

Fun Fact:
  • The team had never created a doll head for Natalie Portman before, so the head sculpt was built from scratch by their sculptor. With new movies, they have an actual scan of the actor’s face to use as a reference.

The Padmé Amidala Limited Edition Collector’s Doll launches at 8 a.m. PST on May 4th via DisneyStore.com, where lots of galactic goodies are currently available to shop in celebration of Star Wars Day. It will also be coming soon to Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.

March 2, 2026: Disney’s Moana and Simea

From the moment audiences met Moana, her bravery, heart, and connection to her heritage made her an unforgettable Disney heroine. When her story continued in Disney’s Moana 2, audiences were introduced to her younger sister Simea, and their powerful bond is now being brought to life in a limited-edition doll set celebrating sisterhood and storytelling.

While the last doll we revealed here on the Disney Parks Blog was more of a sinister spirit, these two sweet siblings are the next characters joining the ranks of collectible dolls sold exclusively on DisneyStore.com.

This is a must-have item for dedicated collectors, since only 2,700 of these limited-edition dolls have been developed.

Design Manager, Dolls & Souvenirs J. Fuchs again provided invaluable insight into what goes on behind the scenes when developing new limited-edition dolls, and I was most curious to ask about the difference in approach when using contemporary animation style as inspiration compared to more classic characters.

“For the modern era characters, we’re able to get digital models directly from the studios, so the doll you’re seeing is made directly from what you see on screen,” said J. “It’s also much easier to learn about the influences and cultural context surrounding the characters, as we have access to the filmmakers and their references.”

It’s not surprising to learn this – the Moana and Simea dolls feel richly animated and alive, like they have stepped right off the screen.

The commitment to honoring those cultural influences that are central to Moana’s story is also evident, as there are so many beautifully intricate details and traditional components that collectors can admire on these dolls.

“Since the designs were carefully crafted by the filmmakers, we do our best to capture all the details we possibly can, at this scale,” J explained. “We used a woven fabric to recreate the tapa cloth of Moana’s skirt, with multi-colored embroidery, natural woven trims, and threads representing the grass skirt. The trim on her bodice is meant to represent the tiny feathers her people used as an embellishment, and her fabric leaf crown captures the variegated look of Ti leaves.”

Every element has been thought of here – from the elaborate costume pieces and accessories to the doll’s physical features that define this character’s identity.

Disney Store Moana 2 Limited Edition Doll

J also shared that the only elements meant to look “unnatural” are the metallic gold accents on Moana’s arm and oar, since those are the magical details granted to her at the end of her epic journey. It is incredible how the choice to use different colors and materials can tell a whole story!

As an older sister myself, I always appreciate seeing the way this bond is explored onscreen, and the dynamic between Moana and Simea in Moana 2 is such a central theme of the story.

When working with characters that already have an established relationship with each other, I wondered how their respective roles as older versus younger siblings translate to the way they appear as dolls. Do the teams take into consideration elements like facial expression, body posture, and even the difference in scale?

J was able to answer all my questions, revealing that this particular set is intended to capture Moana and Simea at the end of Moana 2, once the former has returned safely from her adventures. J shared, “We wanted them side by side as if looking at the ocean, with Moana recounting her tales and Simea excited for the day she gets to have her own. We also included the little starfish Simea gives Moana inside her necklace, as a reminder that they’re always in each other’s hearts.”

The dolls come with display stands for collectors who want to recreate that moment by the sea, but they are also fully poseable, allowing fans to create their own adventures and become a part of the journey.

The Moana and Simea doll set will be available to shop on DisneyStore.com starting at 8 a.m. PST on March 12, and be sure to bookmark this page if you’re looking to stay up to date on future doll reveals.

January 26, 2026: Cruella de Vil

The newest doll coming to DisneyStore.com today (January 26) is none other than Cruella de Vil, the fearsome and fashionable villain from Disney’s 101 Dalmatians.

Cruella is instantly recognizable thanks to her black-and-white color palette with pops of rich red, devilish and dramatic energy, and couture-inspired attire.

I was eager to learn more about how this doll balances honoring iconic interpretations of the character while still creating something new for collectors, so I spoke with J. Fuchs, Design Manager, Dolls & Souvenirs. J helped to bring Cruella to life and provided some fascinating insights into the design process for this new doll.

When asked about which versions of the character most influenced the doll knowing Cruella has appeared onscreen across animation and live action, as well as throughout Disney Parks, J shared that the goal was to be rooted in the classic animated character with elements that felt more modern. “The coat, face, and overall color scheme are pure classic Cruella,” said J, “with nods to the live action film in the more modern hairstyle, mixed metal jewelry, and dramatic design of the dress.”

J and the team also knew that Cruella’s bold attitude and iconic fashion sense needed to be translated into physical details like fabric selection and silhouette. Her larger-than-life fur coat, scarlet gloves and lips, and a sleek black dress are staple elements of her look, with contemporary components such as the contrasting snake print and faux leather materials, the asymmetrical cut of her attire, and glossy pleather over-the-knee boots.

J even mentioned that the coat neckline, which has a medallion with “CDV” etched on, is detachable for multiple customizable looks.

I was most curious to ask J about the little things that fans should be most excited about when they get their hands on Cruella, knowing that the doll gives collectors an opportunity to take in all the thoughtful details and intricacies up close.

“The fun for her is definitely in all the detailed jewelry and unusual fabrics. It’s not often I get to work with different textures like this – from the fuzziest to the sleekest we can find, to the ultra-shimmer fun of the coat lining, so that was the most exciting part of her outfit for me,” J explained. “The soft matte, snake-y suede on her dress is probably my all-time favorite material I’ve gotten to incorporate in an outfit!”
