It’s Thanksgiving, and here at Disney, we’re giving thanks and giving back to families across the country – from Florida to California and beyond. What better way to do this than by donating food directly from our kitchens to communities in need?
Walt Disney World Chefs Cook 1,000 Meals for Central Florida Community
One of our traditions at Walt Disney World is providing warm Thanksgiving meals to Central Florida residents who are without a home and experiencing hardship. It’s something we’ve been doing for over 25 years now!
This year, 15 Disney chefs are preparing the meals for more than 1,000 individuals and families at Coalition for the Homeless and Harbor House of Central Florida. And tomorrow, on Thanksgiving Day, Walt Disney World cast members will serve the meals directly to residents at The Coalition.
“We put so much of ourselves into the meals we prepare for our guests in the parks, but doing something like this for our community means the world to us – especially during a holiday that’s all about giving thanks and giving back,” said Disney World Executive Chef, John Prieto.
Anaheim Families Receive Groceries for the Holidays
Over on the west coast, Disneyland Resort is again teaming up with Northgate González Markets this holiday season to get groceries into the hands of Anaheim families in need.
In addition to distributing boxes of groceries to 125 families, Disneyland Resort and Northgate are donating a total of $15,000 in holiday food vouchers to three community nonprofits: the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Anaheim-Cypress, the Anaheim Independencia Family Resource Center, and Chrysalis Anaheim. And making for even more magic, eight families will also be surprised with a day at Disneyland Resort — along with gift cards and Disney merchandise — to make magical memories together during the holiday season.
“Nothing brings us more joy than making a positive impact in our community,” said Raul Aquino Rojas, Disney Ambassador of Disneyland Resort. “Teaming up with Northgate González Market to give a helping hand – and even make some extra holiday magic – is a wonderful way to share the spirit of the season and create lasting memories for families right here in Anaheim.”
ThanksGIVING Doesn’t Stop There
Thanksgiving food donations don’t stop at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Each year, Disney Cruise Line and our other parks and resorts across the world also give food to underserved communities. To learn more about our commitment to supporting communities, visit impact.disney.com.
