Celebrating 30 Years of Frosted Fun at Disney’s Blizzard Beach

Disney Water Parks

Spring is just around the corner here at Walt Disney World, so we are already thinking about some family fun on the water at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park. With the water park’s brrrr-illant snow storm theming and thrilling attractions amid warm soothing waters, there are plenty of reasons to spend some family time at Blizzard Beach, but I have one more for you – it’s the 30th anniversary of Blizzard Beach in April!

Around here, we celebrate anniversaries in fun ways, and we’re planning to do just that for the 30th anniversary of Blizzard Beach starting April 1. That special day, we will pay tribute to three decades of the water park’s history of creating relaxing days and cool thrills for Walt Disney World guests from around the world. Grab your swimsuit, leave your coat at home and come on out for an anniversary celebration you won’t soon forget.

Just imagine a high-energy DJ spinning some toe-tapping tunes on the deck near the Polar Pub. And fun interactions with Mickey and Minnie decked out in their winter attire. There’s even going to be snowman bowling and character-themed tubes for floating down Cross Country Creek.

The party will continue throughout April with dance parties, special anniversary food & beverage items and more frosted fun than ever. There will also be some family-friendly games with cool prizes such as snowflake tattoos, wintery-themed rubber ducks and snowy bubbles.

And just when you’ve had more than enough wintery fun, we’ll transition to a more tropical splash when we reopen Typhoon Lagoon Water Park on May 1. Mark your calendars because the fun-under-the-sun at Typhoon Lagoon will be here before you know it. I can’t wait to experience my favorite splash zones there, such as:

  • The Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, which is the largest wave pool in North America. Every wave—big and small—makes this the ideal place to body surf.
  • Miss Adventure Falls, the high-octane family raft attraction that always offers thrills for anyone looking for a nautical adventure.
  • Crush n’ Gusher, the thrilling “water coaster” that features three 400-foot-long tube slides named for the various fruits they once transported.
  • Castaway Creek, the scenic lazy river that encircles the entire water park, offering gentle passage past shady grottoes, gushing waterfalls, overhead rope bridges and lush rainforest.

Whether you’re planning to go to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, don’t forget that Walt Disney World Resort guests can enjoy water park admission on their Resort check-in day, included with their stay.

So, are you ready to make some waves this spring? Let’s do it!
