Shanghai Disney Resort’s newest restaurant, Donald’s Dine ‘n Delights, recently opened its doors and cast members received a delicious surprise! Shanghai’s makers of magic were invited to a series of cast-exclusive food tasting events to celebrate Disneytown’s first Disney-themed restaurant before the restaurant officially opened to the public in January.
Here’s a fun sneak peek into what happened at the food tasting events, so you can get a taste of what it was like to attend!
While there were hundreds of slots up for grabs, they were all booked within two minutes of becoming available! And we’re not surprised when looking at all the delicious food in store for cast members!
Joy Liu, human resources, shared that she felt excited to reserve a timeslot and that she “really liked the dining environment of the restaurant, especially the gorgeous designs on the vault ceilings and stained-glass windows. When the food arrived, I was beyond impressed. Everything I got to taste was so good, and the added Disney twists provided the perfect photo opportunity!”
Some standout dishes that cast could not stop talking about included the Yunnan Truffle Pizza, Steak Café de Paris, Donald Duck Fishing Plate with Chip ‘n’ Dale Onion Rings and Donald Duck’s Vanilla Shake.
“All the dishes we ordered were delicious – especially the seafood pizza,” said Tony Zhang, guest services manager, main entrance. “The attention to detail made the experience that much more memorable – even the dishes and tableware were exquisite!”
In addition to all of the yummy food options, many cast members couldn’t help but comment on the beautiful floor-to-ceiling detail of the restaurant’s décor. Although the décor pays homage to Donald, you’ll find his friends Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Daisy, his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie — even his sometimes-nemeses Chip and Dale — represented throughout the interior.
Many also complimented the colorful stained-glass windows and charming ceiling murals, which shows Donald and his friends sharing a happy moment. When sitting down to enjoy their meal, cast could also admire the oval framed art hung over the booths and tables, featuring the iconic group of friends.
It was a memorable, cast exclusive experience that set the tone for the new year!
