Halloween is right around the corner, and if you’ve been following along on Disney Parks Blog over the past two months, you may have noticed an extra dash of frightful fun across Disney Parks around the world.
From August 21 through October 31, Disneyland Resort is once again home to plenty of seasonal magic complete with touches of Halloween excitement. Now, fans can bring some of that fun to their devices with a new set of downloadable wallpapers inspired by new decorations now up at Pixar Place Hotel.
Disney Parks Blog recently caught up with Disney artist Brett Snodgrass, whose latest creation transforms familiar faces from Disney and Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. into a playful Halloween celebratory theme at Pixar Place Hotel. The colorful artwork features an assortment of recognizable monster pals dressed in festive costumes and surrounded by candy-and-door-filled scenes that capture the true spirit of the season.
Spot Favorite Monsters, Inc. Friends in These Clever Wallpapers
Mike and Sulley may be the dynamic duo at the heart of Monsters, Inc. but no Pixar story is complete without a memorable supporting cast. These downloadable wallpapers feature plenty of familiar monster friends (and one hidden human), allowing you to spot your favorite characters across the colorful designs.
One of the coolest details in this delightful batch of wallpapers? The use of the iconic “doors”, pulled straight from the creative vision of the original 2001 movie. This creative nod immediately brings back memories of watching the opening sequence of Monsters, Inc. on our old-school VHS as a kid, highlighting one of the film’s most recognizable visual elements.
Bringing these creative designs to life requires months of endless passion and collaboration between teams at Walt Disney Imagineering, Pixar Animation Studios, and Resort Enhancement at Disneyland Resort, all working together to create an environment that celebrates the world of Monstropolis in a festive and clever way.
“There are some brilliant concept artists who’ve worked on the Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University movies over the years, and I think they’re just beautiful movies,” Brett said. “So, I really dug into what the other artists have done. Guests are going to see a lot of shapes and compositions that really reflect some of that early concept artwork.”
To bring this vision to life, Brett partnered closely with the always-creative Pixar minds over in Emeryville to make sure that the characters featured at Pixar Place Hotel stayed true to the established look, personality, and story. Once the artwork was officially signed, sealed, and delivered to the colorful lobby inside the hotel, it was time to transform these concepts into a real-life environment at the hotel. Now, they are being brought to life as downloadable wallpapers for desktop, mobile, and smart watch devices.
Scoop Up Some Sweet Treats with Candy-Inspired Wallpapers
In my book, October means a few things: Halloween costumes, postseason baseball, and plenty of candy to keep the season feeling extra sweet.
With these colorful, downloadable wallpaper designs, fans can celebrate one of Halloween’s most iconic traditions from their desktop, mobile device, or smart watch. With playful, candy-filled artwork featuring favorite Monstropolis-inspired treats like “Bog Water Taffy,” “Carasmell Chews,” and “Sludge Brownies,” these designs are a yummy reminder that a little sugar and creativity can go a long way as October 31 approaches.
And for those preparing to stay at one of the three Hotels of the Disneyland Resort in October, the sweet fun doesn’t stop there. For a limited-time, overnight guests can explore a delicious trick-or-treat trail across all three Hotels of the Disneyland Resort.
To participate in this fun, seasonal (and complimentary) experience on select days in October, be sure to visit the Front Desk to sign up and receive your own wristband, goodie guide, and treat bag.
If you’re traveling to Disneyland Resort during Halloween Time this year, you can also save up to 20% on select room types for stays of three or more nights at a Disneyland Resort hotel from October 11 through December 18, 2026. Make sure to swing by The Sketch Pad Café for a sweet seasonal pastry and check out the first-ever Monsters Inc.-inspired Halloween decor at Pixar Place Hotel.
Be sure to search for your favorite characters, discover hidden details sprinkled throughout the artwork, and snap a few photos on your phone (using one of these wallpapers for your background, of course) with these awesome displays during your next visit.
