For generations, Disney fans have found ways to bring the stories they love into their everyday lives. At Walt Disney Imagineering, we are always exploring new ways for that connection to feel personal, expressive, and unexpected. Disney .YNSD is our latest expression of that idea.
In my senior leadership role at Walt Disney Imagineering, I have the privilege of working with Imagineers across disciplines and around the world—and of overseeing Mickey’s of Glendale, a brand that has long celebrated the people, culture, and creative spirit of Imagineering. .YNSD builds on that legacy in a distinctly new way: a lifestyle brand conceived and created by a collective of Imagineers, with stories embedded into every piece.
What is the Story Behind .YNSD?
Making its debut at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa, .YNSD is inspired by the same curiosity, craft, and attention to detail that shape Disney experiences around the world. Each collection begins with an idea, a place, a texture, or a moment of inspiration, then is translated through thoughtful design, hidden references, and unexpected connections.
And the name itself, .YNSD (yen-sid), is the reversal of “Disney” without vowels, and a reference to Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey’s mentor from Disney’s Fantasia.
This is not about placing a familiar graphic on a garment. This new brand takes a design-first approach, using materials, textures, silhouettes, and construction details to carry the story. Some references are immediate; others reveal themselves only over time.
The result is apparel and accessories made for everyday life—pieces that feel considered, versatile, and unmistakably Disney to those who know where to look.
Introducing Collection 1: The Debut Collection
The first .YNSD collection establishes the brand’s design language through clean silhouettes, modern essentials, and a fresh perspective on Disney-inspired apparel.
Across tees, crewnecks, outerwear, and accessories, the focus is on craftsmanship, versatility, and understated design. Tonal graphics, embroidered details, custom trims, and utility-inspired accents create pieces that move naturally from a creative workspace into the everyday world beyond it.
Curiosity is rewarded throughout the collection. Custom patches, specialty finishes, and photochromic inks reveal graphics when exposed to sunlight, while other references are integrated quietly into the construction rather than placed front and center.
Together, these pieces establish the foundation of .YNSD: a design language rooted in discovery, detail, and a different way to wear Disney.
Collection 2: Inspired by Haunted Mansion Parlor
The second .YNSD collection draws from the rich atmosphere and intricate design language of Haunted Mansion Parlor aboard the Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny.
Rather than reproducing familiar characters or attraction iconography, the collection looks deeper—to the details that give the space its identity. Victorian textiles, layered patterns, ornate flourishes, and hidden motifs are reinterpreted across apparel, accessories, and lifestyle pieces.
At the center of the collection is a custom pattern inspired by the textiles and decorative details found throughout Haunted Mansion Parlor. Appearing across a variety of items, it becomes a unifying thread—and a story surface of its own.
Look closely and you will find ghostly imagery concealed within floral arrangements, subtle symbols worked into the artwork, and references drawn from the atmosphere of the space itself. Like Haunted Mansion Parlor, the collection is designed to keep revealing new details the longer you spend with it.
I am proud of the Imagineers who brought .YNSD to life and of the way this work expands the creative legacy of Mickey’s of Glendale. It is a reminder that Imagineering is not only about the places we build, but also about the ideas, objects, and stories that allow people to carry a piece of that creativity with them.
