Sam Eagle Salutes Military Service on Veterans Day
In honor of Veterans Day, everyone’s favorite patriotic Muppet, Sam Eagle, spreads his wings for a hearty salute to all those who have served in the U.S. military. Of course, as Sam would say, “Saluting is the most dignified thing a bird can do!”
His proud message is a tribute befitting those who have valiantly served our nation in uniform — with just a touch of Sam’s signature seriousness (and maybe a feathered flourish or two).
Check back throughout the day to discover more ways Disney Parks celebrates Veterans Day, honors U.S. military heroes and their families, and perhaps even spot Sam Eagle keeping watch for any signs of “unpatriotic shenanigans.”
Disney’s Support for Service Members, Their Families and Veteran Nonprofits
For over a century, Disney has honored U.S. military service. We uphold this tradition by working with veteran and military nonprofit organizations nationwide. Disney is proud to support programs that benefit service members, veterans, and their families. Here are some recent highlights:

Making Magic with Blue Star Families
We are proud to share that we’re deepening our longstanding relationship with Blue Star Families through a $2.5 million donation to help strengthen military families across the country. Together, Disney and Blue Star Families will continue to create unique events and experiences, including the 25th “Blue Star Books” celebration — an event that will bring military families together to enjoy the simple joys of reading and storytelling. It’s moments like these that truly make a difference, and we’re so proud to be part of them.
In 2024, Disney VoluntEARS collaborated with Blue Star Families to launch a pilot “Welcome Kit” program supporting military families during permanent change of station (PCS) moves. Each kit was thoughtfully curated with comfort items, entertainment and practical essentials to make relocating easier and help families feel at home in their new communities. This initiative reflects Disney’s ongoing commitment to service members and their loved ones, ensuring they feel welcomed, supported and connected as they begin their next chapter.
Spreading Holiday Cheer at Fisher House Orlando
On November 3, VoluntEARS and SALUTE members from Walt Disney World brought holiday cheer to Orlando Fisher House, continuing a cherished annual tradition. This special place provides a “home away from home” for military and veteran families during challenging times.
Each year, VoluntEARS help ensure the space feels comforting and joyful throughout the holiday season. This annual tradition reflects Disney’s ongoing commitment to supporting those who serve and their families.

Powering Mentorship with Student Veterans of America
For nearly 15 years, Disney has proudly supported Student Veterans of America (SVA) to empower veterans as they pursue higher education and transition into civilian careers.
This year, we’re building on our relationship with a $245,000 donation to help SVA bring an innovative AI career mentor resource to life for student veterans across 1,600 colleges and universities nationwide. This tool will support veterans in their post-military career development and provide personalized guidance as they prepare for meaningful professional opportunities.
We were also honored to continue our work with SVA from the $1 million donation as the founding sponsor of the SVA Career Center in 2023 to create a resource designed to help student veterans build meaningful professional pathways. Each year, we continue to champion SVA’s mission through annual support for the SVA National Conference. This is an incredible event that brings together thousands of student veterans from across the nation where they have opportunities to connect, learn and grow.
Through these ongoing efforts, Disney is proud to play a small role in helping shape a brighter future for those who have served our nation.

Bringing smiles to deployed service members with the USO
On November 5, VoluntEARS at Disneyland Resort also worked with the USO to create 2,000 care kits for deployed U.S. military service members. These kits include essential items and small comforts designed to remind service members that they are appreciated and supported while serving far from home.
As a company, Disney has assembled thousands of USO care kits to be sent to active-duty service members stationed around the world, helping to deliver comfort, gratitude and a touch of Disney magic to those who protect our nation.
