Disneyland Resort cast members assembled in their favorite super hero gear this week for a special #DisneyCastLife preview of “Rogers: The Musical” at Disney California Adventure park.
The limited-time, one-act musical about Steve Rogers’ journey to becoming Captain America, which opens to guests on June 30, is inspired by the fictional Broadway musical theater sequence featured in the first episode of the Disney+ series “Hawkeye.”
“I loved the performance,” said VIP Tours Host Efrain, one of approximately 10,000 cast members who attended previews at the Hyperion Theater. “The lyrics were amazing … it’s like you’re at a Broadway show, but really you’re here at the Disneyland Resort!”
Cast said they were in awe of the performances and featured songs, including “Save The City” from the Disney+ series “Hawkeye” (written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman), and “Star Spangled Man” from the film “Captain America: The First Avenger.” Five additional new numbers have been created specifically for “Rogers: The Musical,” which is scheduled to run through Aug. 31.
Imagination Campus cast member Chris said it was amazing to be among the first to see the show before it officially opens to guests. “This is the magic,” Chris said. “It’s just amazing that the company truly values us as cast members to give some of that [magic] back to us.”
For some cast members, the show brought them back to their fondest childhood memories. “I grew up watching these Avengers,” said Sean, who works in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attractions. “I felt that same magic from watching this show. It was fun, it was vibrant and it also has emotion. It’s very well worth the watch.”
